What Makes a Fine Natural Emerald

Emerald is valued first for its color — a specific, saturated green few other gemstones achieve. Nearly all fine emeralds contain natural inclusions, often called jardin (French for "garden"), and most undergo a widely accepted minor oil treatment to improve clarity.

None of this diminishes a stone's quality — what matters is transparency about it. Every emerald we offer states its treatment plainly, including oil treatment where present.
